Whew! What a whirlwind the month of July was. Right after getting back from France and covering the Tour de France, Bobke and I shared our tales from the Tour at the Trek store in Highland Park. Then it was a weekend of riding for VQ athletes on the road and at the velodrome. We’re into August already and the calendar is still moving full steam ahead with several events happening at VQ to work on swims, long-distance riding and getting more aerodynamic.
Coach Charlie Cunnick led the Freestyle Can Be Easy clinic and will next be leading some open water swims. This week Jim Sauls shares his knowledge on aerodynamics in the Expert Series. Always wanted to know how you could get a little faster on the bike? Jim can show you some simple tweaks and their importance.
Then this weekend several VQ athletes are racing at the Double Bong Time Trial or the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon, or they’re going up to Madison to ride the Ironman Wisconsin course. It’s a busy time around Vision Quest, that’s for sure–almost like jetting around France.
Even with all of these events going on, it’s great to be back stateside to spend some much needed time with my family. I mentioned how I missed them while overseas and it was so good to see them again and just hang out. While I like all of the adventure at the Tour, it’s nice to wind down every once in a while.
